We spend a lot of time at/in our pool in the summer. Most pool umbrellas are terrible at actually blocking sunlight. I'm sure there is a reason for that that I am unaware of, but after six or eight hours, I like to be able to sit there and not get fried. I went to the beach a year ago after not having been in several years and the dude there rented us what appeared to be a canvas umbrella (looked just like this one) - that thing let absolutely NO light through. If this was like that, I would have given it five stars. This is, however, the next best thing. It definitely blocks more light than our other umbrellas (I did buy another one a few weeks ago). I think it blocks 95% of sun, so all day under it in the middle of the summer and you will get some sun, but not be too toasted (still suggest some sunscreen). I do wish it was larger (our other umbrellas were 11'), but winds that would have killed our other umbrellas haven't bothered this one.We needed a beach umbrella, and this one works well. We used it on two trips already.I was a little nervous to buy this one because it costs much less than some other brands, but I am happy with the umbrella. It seems to have a good quality pole, mechanics, and cover. I would recommend! There's a good selection of colors also. Ours came with a nice storage bag, made from the same matching material as the cover.Only draw back is its heavy to carry so if your hiking on the beach get a cheapie. The quality is the same as the pro models we used to rent out on Clearwater beach.Lightweight (considering the old school ones) and holds up in the wind. Used this all summer in Cape May and was really impressed by the quality. I was hesitant at first, but given the more expensive option/brand, this one was a good choice and seems to be holding up well.This umbrella looks just like the pic: bright color, scalloped edge and seems sturdy. The pole is wood and there is no crank; it’s the type you push up. Wasn’t difficult but if you are shorter in stature (I’m 5-10), it might hit cumbersome. The end has a point so you could easily put it in ground. The umbrella does not tilt (my own fault, I didn’t notice that in description) so if you need that feature…. All in all, it is a nice product.Seems a little pricy - but if you want a large sturdy umbrella to hold up to beach wind, this is a great choice.Definitely not as sturdy as a Frankford, but it is certainly cheaper and lighter. Held up fine to a windy week at Myrtle Beach but I worried about it all week because the sides flap so much. Regardless, it never failed so I probably worried for nothing. One negative is the little drawstring cinch thing on the bag - after 5 days use the spring rusted and failed.I bought 3 of these one won’t come apart the pole is stuck . Need a refund or new/replacement.
