Let me start by saying I really like this frame, but let me also say I don't have much to compare to. When I began shopping for a frame for my papyrus art, I didn't realize how hard it was to find a real wood ornate frame that was bigger than 8 x10 that was under like $80. I had discovered this one at the begining of my search but disregarded it because I was under the impression that $52 was way too much for a frame (spoiler I was wrong). Determined that I could find what I was looking for, which was a non plastic, ornate style frame (which the style I was going for metal frames didn't really exist) that wasn't flimsy. I naïvly believed I could find one under $35, because well, I'm 31 and had never really shopped for frames before and I am quite picky on quality of items I buy. Omg that was such a hard thing to shop for, especially since the art I needed to frame was an apparently hard to shop for size of 14" x 17". This size is almost always custom order frames, and well after checking out a few websites determined I couldnt get what I wanted under $175, which on a piece of papyrus art that I got at an antique store for maybe $10-15 was a no go. Which now that it's framed makes it seem much more expensive than it is. Anyways I digress. The point is, I do wish it was a little better quality, ie using just a piece of cardboard for the backing is quite cheap, I'm used to the felt coated ones that have a kick stand I think is better. The paint along the back side is kinda sloppy and there are a few miniscule spots on the front where one paint overlaps the other but when on the wall you can't see it all. The other thing is that the size isn't quite right I had to get a 14 x18 size, but the cut of the art is uneven so that's OK, it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. And honestly, the frame really matches the piece quite nicely, I don't know if I could have found a better one, the super yellow gold color looks great against the bronze/gold metallic in the art and the black outer part of the frame really pops against the black in the piece and the faint red undertone along the edge also goes great. One other thing I would note is that frames over a certain size in this brand come with plexi glass instead of real glass, so just be aware. I'm kinda bummed about that, but apparently this is quite common. All in all I recomend this seller (arrived within a week well packaged and undamaged) and not bad quality considering the price, I just wish it had better backing and came with real glass, but that would also drive the price up. I'll be sure to check them out the next time I need a frame for something, like a Van Gogh reproduction I'm considering, that is if I don't decide to splurge on a custom frame lol.
